“Future Food for Thought: serving research pathways in alt protein” is a panel discussion by UniMelb Alt Pro Initiative happening on 2:15-3:30 pm AEST – Tuesday, 24th Aug, and everyone interested is welcome to join!

Have you been thinking about pursuing research in the FUTURE OF FOOD?

Join researchers from the Future Food Hallmark Research Initiative to learn about the exciting projects happening now and the opportunities available for making strides in developing alternative proteins. Whether you are considering doing a research project, honours, master’s, PhD, or are simply curious to know what fantastic research is going on at the University of Melbourne to create better food, this event is for you!

The speakers will give a short talk about their research, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A for those burning questions! ‎We’ll cover how they got into alt protein research, and discuss how you might get involved too!

Speaker list:
  • Dr Minh Ha – Academic Convenor for Future Food Initiative and research fellow in muscle proteins
  • Dr Greg Martin – Associate Professor in bioprocess and chemical engineering, and co-theme leader of alternative sources of protein production and proof-of-concept products for the Future Food Initiative.
  • Kieren Watkins – PhD student working on seafood characterisation
  • Brodie Peace – Honours student working on improving cell culture media
