One of CAA’s objectives is to build a harmonised regulatory regime for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region to facilitate business development and trade of cellular agriculture products.
As a part of these efforts, CAA’s Victoria Taylor represents the Australian cellular agriculture sector in the APAC Regulatory Coordination Forum, which seeks to unify efforts to advance regulations for cellular agriculture in the APAC region.
In November 2024, the APAC Regulatory Coordination Forum released two white papers outlining collaborative opportunities for governments to support the commercialisation of the sector. They examine food safety regulatory gaps in cell line development and cell culture media components; two primary inputs into the cell cultivation process.
Victoria Taylor is listed as a co-author of a chapter on safety assessment protocols and the assessment of expression systems for culture media substances.
The White Papers are a collaboration between companies, industry associations, think tanks, government agencies and regulators across 10 APAC jurisdictions. They are a valuable starting point to inform and empower regional regulators to co-develop internationally harmonised standards, guidelines, and recommendations.
