Driving Sustainability and Innovation in Cellular Agriculture

Noumi's commitment to ESG is embedded within  Noumi’s "Healthier Tomorrow Plan" which was launched in FY22.  The plan aims to deliver sustainable future growth across all aspects of its operations and encompasses Healthier Lifestyles, Healthier Planet and Healthier workplace.  The four core areas under Noumi’s ‘Healthier Planet’ commitment include: Waste and Packaging, Energy and Climate, Sustainable Water Usage and Sustainable agriculture.

A key component of Noumi's ESG strategy is the use of Precision Fermentation to produce PUREnFERRIN® Lactoferrin. This not only ensures a sustainable source of this valuable protein but also enhances Noumi’s ability to create lactoferrin-containing therapeutic products. Collaborative research with the University of Newcastle and Monash University has been instrumental in this endeavour. These partnerships have driven research into the application of lactoferrin in consumer products, particularly those aimed at improving immune system health and addressing COVID-19 infection concerns.

Noumi's Unique Strengths and Growth Plans

Noumi's dedication to producing lactoferrin via Precision Fermentation places them at the forefront of food protein biotechnology and nutrition science. They are pioneers in the development and working towards commercialisation of this technology, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally neutral source of lactoferrin. This innovative approach positions Noumi to lead the dairy protein Precision Fermentation sector in Australia, a sector that is projected to be worth up to $10 billion by 2030, according to CSIRO.

Additionally, their efforts have significant potential for the development of lactoferrin-containing products aimed at preventing or mitigating viral illnesses, including COVID-19. As the pandemic continues to affect the global community, these products could generate substantial population health benefits. Noumi's role in advancing the production of lactoferrin is instrumental in ensuring the success of these product developments, aligning with their mission to create a healthier tomorrow.
